10 early fall outfits that will inspire you

We’re officially midway through September, which can be an awkward time of year when it comes to dressing. It’s still relatively warm, but at the same time we’re aching to bust out our new fall clothes. So we looked to our favourite celebrities, bloggers and fashion insiders for some early fall outfits to inspire us (and you!).

Slacks and a short-sleeved cardigan:

Amal Clooney

Human rights lawyer and style superstar Amal Clooney wore this chic combo earlier this month. A short-sleeved cardi is cool enough for sunny days while still maintaining that ever-important fall feel.

An off-the-shoulder sweater and fringed skirt:

Diana Tsui

Fashion editor Diana Tsui is fashion-week ready in this outfit she refers to as “summer goth.” The fringed skirt is breathable an d touches on one of fall’s hottest trends, and the outfit’s overall dark hue screams “I am ready for autumn!”

A flowy top and skinny trousers

Jessica Quirk

Jessica Quirk of What I Wore masters transitional-weather dressing (and stylish proportions) in a loose blouse and slim-fit pants. Bonus points for the quilted backpack – very back-to-school! ;)

Our Just One Look Top in Black/White would look fab with your fave skinnies!

Just One Look Top in Black White

A textured shirt and high-waisted trousers

Jessica Simpson street style

Jessica Simpson’s all-black colour palette is very fall, and a long-sleeved shirt, sans sweater, is probably the optimal level of warmth for mid-September weather. The high-waisted trousers are very on trend. (There’s a chance this look is a one-piece jumpsuit, which would just prove that even Jessica Simpson loves the convenience of all-in-one outfits!)

A black lace dress

Cara Loren street style

The airy lace and short sleeves of blogger Cara Loren’s dress say “I’m soaking up the sunshine,” while the dress’s onyx colour and Cara’s tawny lipstick and trendy accessories scream “fall 2015!”

A vintage-inspired fit-and-flare dress

Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam

A retro shirtdress with a full skirt is seriously a seasonless classic. Try to contain your envy when you find out blogger Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam is wearing hers in gorgeous Paris!

A lightweight plaid shirtdress

Taylor Schilling street style

Orange Is the New Black star Taylor Schilling pulls off a style coup in an autumny plaid dress that’s lightweight enough for September sunshine.

A girly blouse and high-waisted shorts

Jenny Bernheim of Margo and Me

Jenny Bernheim of Margo and Me shows us all how to masterfully pull off summery shorts post-August: pair them with a girly, long-sleeved blouse. So cute!

Sophisticated basics and a lightweight trench

Jacey Duprie street style

If you’re ready to start wearing a jacket for the season, you can’t go wrong with a light trench in a neutral shade. Pair it with a striped top and cropped trousers (and a classic quilted Chanel bag, if you can afford it!) like Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior and watch the compliments roll in.

A crisp white shirt and battered jeans

Ruby Rose street style

Is it summer? Winter? You could literally wear a versatile outfit like Orange Is the New Black’s Ruby Rose’s every day of the year, although you might want to keep a spare on hand for laundry days ;).
