Five spring 2015 beauty trends we can’t wait to try
Who cares if it’s still chilly outside? It’s March, and we’ve decided it’s basically spring. After a frigid February, it’s time to reward ourselves for surviving the winter by indulging in some fun spring style. And while it’s still not warm enough for bare legs or crop tops, beauty trends know no weather restrictions. Here are five spring 2015 beauty trends we’re trying ASAP, and the spring clothes we’re psyched to wear them with.
Smoky brown eyeshadow:
Move over, black eye makeup. The new smoky eye is all about the browns. Its lighter hue makes it fresher and more springy that the classic smoky eye. You could even pull this look off during the daytime! To achieve this look, try Urban Decay’s Naked Eyeshadow Palette. It’s the cult favourite of beauty bloggers and makeup artists, and it has all the toasty brown shades you need to create spring 2015’s smoky eye.
Wear it with: Our Cloud Nine Sweater in Off-White. Like the brown smoky eye, this cropped sweater is a fresh take on a classic style.
Max Mara presented the least wearable take on this trend – thick slashes of bright red across the eyelids. The subtle light-neon stripes across the lids at Christian Dior and the mermaidy, blue-rimmed eyes at Elie Saab, however, would be absolutely perfect for a night out. Try the Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon. It’s one of Sephora’s best-selling eyeliners, and it’s available in vivid shades of aqua, purple and even orange!
Wear it with: Our Roselyne Top in White. It’s edgy enough to go well with daring eye makeup, but its white hue won’t pull focus away from your eyes.
Call it the season of #iwokeuplikethis. Models at Marc Jacobs wore literally no makeup on the runway! For those of us not willing to take it to that extreme, Chanel, Jason Wu and Victoria Beckham offered pretty, low-maintenance looks that will make you look like the best version of yourself. Real Simple magazine has a great tutorial for creating a gorgeous bare-faced look.
Wear it with: Our Nathalia Dress in White. It’s chic without being fussy, which works perfectly with your effortless-looking makeup. You’ll look like you just rolled out of bed looking gorgeous!
Dare to bare your nails. After years of heavy-duty nail art, the pendulum has swung the other way. The negative-space manicure is the latest, coolest thing for spring. With these manicures, the polish only covers part of your nail, showing off the bare nail underneath. The design possibilities are endless: the nails at Dion Lee featured a single, minimalist metallic stripe, while those at Delpozo featured coral half-moons. The nails at Charlotte Ronson were especially inspired, with turquoise polish alternating between the half-moon and the rest of the nail. To pull off this look, it’s imperative that the surface of your nails be in good shape, so invest a couple of dollars in a buffer block, like this one from Sephora.
Wear it with: Our Melissa Tee in Light Grey. This cool top is covered in tiny holes, revealing a hint of skin – just like the way your negative-space manicure shows off your bare nails.
Braids, braids, braids:
Braids have been blowing up on Pinterest for a while, but now they’re officially the hottest high-fashion thing. At Giamba, models wore a single braid along their part, while the Mara Hoffman runways featured a totally wearable dishevelled braid. The style at Giorgio Armani, a cornrowed updo, was a little more intricate. Check out our collection of 10 creative braid tutorials to start braiding like a pro.
