ICYMI: Five things we loved this week
Below are five moments of fashion from across the internet that we loved this week.
Strike a pose: Maybe you’re a newbie personal style blogger, or you live in fear of a street style photog snapping your photo. xoJane’s Courtney Brunson’s got you covered. The fashion week veteran posted a great tutorial on how to master a few stellar Tommy Ton-worthy poses. Combine one of these poses with a great Pink Martini Collection outfit, and you’re basically guaranteed to get featured on Style.com
Glass slippers: To celebrate the upcoming live-action Cinderella movie, starring Cate Blanchett and Lily James, Disney had nine top designers, including Stuart Weitzman and Nicholas Kirkwood, design their own takes on the classic glass slipper. The best part? These shoes will actually be released in stores! But we’ll probably need to have our fairy godmothers conjure up some big bucks in order to afford them.
Matching your man: For Valentine’s Day, we rounded up some pieces you and your bae can wear that are just coordinated enough to make you guys look like a cute couple, not creepy twins.
VBO: Yes or no? If you’re a woman and you’ve never felt less than confident about your stomach, we want to know your secret. Which is why it was so refreshing to see Kelsey Miller’s new fashion experiment, where she took a walk in several skirts that showed off her “VBO” (visible belly outline). We don’t know if we’d be brave enough to wear something society deems unflattering, but we have mad respect for her body confidence, and she looks gorgeous and happy.
How they got hooked: The recently redesigned Racked asked 36 style mavens and industry insiders about the “gateway drug” that got them addicted to fashion. For Yahoo Style editor-in-chief Joe Zee, it was crashing Marc Jacob’s now-infamous Perry Ellis collection’s fashion show. For Nordstrom’s director of creative projects, Olivia Kim, it was an Esprit sweatshirt she bought in the fourth grade. What was yours?
