We’re dotty for polka dots! This playful trend took the spring 2015 runways by storm. Here’s how to wear the polka dot trend, according to designers and real people.
Junya Watanabe (above left) took the polka dot trend to the extreme, sending a model down the runway covered in giant black and white polka dots – not the most wearable look. At Marc by Marc Jacobs (above centre), a prim polka dot skirt was sent down the runway under a rocker-style, baggy tee. Moschino (above right), which showed a Barbie-themed collection, had a little fun with the polka dot trend, putting spots on a beautifully garish eighties-Barbie-style dress and matching hair bow.
Hong Kong fashionista Mayo Wo went for a classic polka dot look, keeping the colour family neutral by pairing a cream sweater with a dainty tan-and-black skirt.
Elisabeth Green of Spain dared to mix clashing patterns, pairing a checkered top with a polka do skirt. Because she keeps her accessories simple and the colour palette neutral, she totally pulls it off!
Joanna L. of the U.K. made a statement in black and white with a polka dot clutch. A plain black and white outfit could be boring, but she makes it interesting by combining unique pieces like an edgy varsity jacket and towering heels.
